01-FI, Pavilion Exhibition Chair - Inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
This high-quality chair is produced to the designers' original specifications. Inspired By: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona Chair with X-Frame Design, 1929-1931
One of the most recognised objects of the last century, and an icon of the modern movement, the Barcelona Chair is a tribute to the marriage of design and craftsmanship.
This is a high-quality chair inspired by an iconic modernist design originally created for the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona.
The Exhibition chair frame is constructed from premium solid #304 grade stainless steel bar stock, 12mm thick. All joints are fully welded, sealed, and seamlessly finished, then hand-polished to a mirror-like surface.
The seat and back cushions attach discreetly to the frame using snap fastenings (four on the back, four on the seat). For an additional charge, the frame can be powder-coated in one of our standard finishes or customized in a selected color.
The cushions are composed of 40 individual top-grain leather panels, each precisely cut and hand-stitched using a hand-rolled welting technique rarely seen in comparable designs.
Filled with high-resilience, high-density polyurethane foam, the cushions are CAL117 flame test rated for commercial use. They are supported by leather straps riveted to the frame, with all edges carefully aligned to match the upholstery color.
Front and upper corners are constructed without visible seams, while the buttons—approximately dime-sized—are upholstered in matching leather for a refined, cohesive finish.
