55-FI, The Nyhavn Desk, Inspired by Finn Juhl
The Nyhavn Desk reflects Finn Juhl's lifelong exploration of lightness, balance and sculptural simplicity. Throughout his career, Juhl designed a number of tables with almost invisible legs, often crafted in burnished or painted steel and finished with distinctive wooden feet. Among them were the Nyhavn Table and the Nyhavn Desk, originally designed for his studio at 33 Nyhavn Street in the heart of Copenhagen.

Overall: 47.25"W × 23.5"D × 28.75"H
When Juhl moved his studio to 38 Sølvgade in 1957, the tables remained part of his working environment — a testament to the enduring clarity of their design.
The Nyhavn Desk is defined by remarkably simple lines and an almost floating lightness. Its character lies in the details: the delicate wooden feet, the slender steel structure and the drawer unit, whose carefully considered proportions reinforce the impression that the desk is suspended in space. The drawer block was available in both warm and cool colours inspired by Goethe's colour wheel, introducing a subtle yet distinctive element of colour to Juhl's otherwise restrained composition.
Furniconic's interpretation of the Nyhavn Desk is inspired by Finn Juhl's original design and the principles of Danish Modernism that shaped his work. Faithful to the visual language of the original, it combines sculptural simplicity, refined proportions and functional elegance in a piece designed for contemporary interiors.
More than a desk, the Nyhavn is an expression of Juhl's belief that furniture should possess both architectural clarity and a human, almost poetic lightness.
